EU to Launch Standardisation Work for Post-Installed Fasteners in 2028
The European Commission has published its 2026–2029 Work Plan under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR 2024), outlining the timeline for the standardisation of construction products over the coming years. According to the plan, standardisation work for post-installed fasteners will officially begin in 2028.
Under the CPR 2024 framework, future harmonised standards will be developed through Standardisation Requests, which serve as the legal basis for drafting technical standards. These requests define key elements such as product scope, technical requirements, classifications, and the applicability of European Assessment Documents (EADs).
Post-installed fasteners fall within Product Family 33, “Fixings.” The European Commission has confirmed that this product family will follow the same standardisation process as other construction product categories while incorporating horizontal requirements related to fire safety, hazardous substances, and sustainability.
The European Consortium of Anchor Producers (ECAP) and Construction Fixings Europe (CFE) have been actively engaged in discussions with the European Commission on future standardisation activities. Key topics expected to shape the process include product classification, scope definition, and testing methodologies.
As the 2028 timeline approaches, companies supplying the European market are encouraged to closely monitor regulatory developments and standardisation progress. Early preparation and active participation in industry discussions will help businesses adapt to future compliance requirements and maintain competitiveness in the evolving European construction sector.
